Share of U.S. consumers that bought sporting goods 2021, by product type

When asked in 2021 what sporting goods they had purchased in the past 24 months, nearly 60 percent of consumers in the United States indicated that they bought sports footwear, making it the most commonly purchased kind of sports item in the country. About a third of surveyed Americans had bought sports equipment and/or gear in the last two years.
